Work Integrated

Learning (WIL)

Sample Assist, in partnership with Innomente, leads an award-winning university Work Integrated Learning (WIL) Program that gives elite engineering students the opportunity to contribute directly to innovation in digital health.

Delivered as part of our broader research strategy, the program provides hands-on experience in cybersecurity, software engineering, DevOps,  artificial intelligence, design, marketing and research.

Participants work on real-world challenges alongside industry mentors, accelerating both their professional growth and the development of practical solutions.

This initiative helps cultivate the next generation of digital health innovators while strengthening the talent pipeline for Australia’s tech sector.

Delivered in partnership with six leading Australian universities; The Australian National University (ANU), The University of Sydney (USYD), Western Sydney University (WSU), University of Canberra (UC), University of Wollongong (UoW), and Charles Sturt University (CSU); the program plays a strategic role in developing a qualified talent pipeline ready to lead the future of intelligent, and digitally secure healthcare.

Undergraduate, postgraduate, PhD candidates, and Research Fellows contribute to real-world initiatives such as AI-powered workplace medical screening, secure digital identity systems, and trusted, encrypted health data exchange platforms. The WIL Program is distinguished by its integration with ARC-funded research and its alignment with Australia’s national priorities in digital health, responsible AI, and future-focused occupational health solutions.

Aligned with university course requirements, the program enables students to earn academic credit while working on applied research and product development. Each student undertakes a concurrent internship and is mentored by experienced industry professionals, translating academic knowledge into commercially relevant outcomes.
