Our Story

Sample Assist was founded to modernise one of the most overlooked areas of occupational health: workplace drug and alcohol testing. Traditional systems were fragmented, paper-based, and inefficient.

Our founder, Heath Cooper, launched Sample Assist in 2021, drawing on over 40 years of experience across healthcare, technology, and communication, to solve this problem with a secure, digital service platform.

From Paper to Platform: A Digital Transformation

The Sample Assist platform replaces outdated workflows with streamlined, AI-powered systems that enhance data security, privacy, and compliance — making workplace management and testing faster, safer, and smarter. Today, Sample Assist sets the global benchmark for digital infrastructure in occupational health.

Innovation is at our core. Through a dedicated Research & Development program led by our partner Innomente Pty Ltd, solving tomorrow's problems today by developing future-ready solutions like quantum-safe encryption and digital medical passports. Together, we’ve secured over $3.1 million in national research projects.

We invest in the next generation of the workforce through our nationally recognised Work Integrated Learning (WIL) program. Delivered in partnership with leading Australian universities, the program offers high-performing students — from undergraduate to PhD level — the opportunity to solve industry problems by working on real-world digital health projects.

At Sample Assist, we’re redefining how occupational health is delivered — combining secure infrastructure, advanced analytics, and human-centred design to build safer, healthier and smarter workplaces.
